Wescan Presents...
James Kakalios!
James Kakalios
is a physics professor at the University
of Minnesota. Known within the
scientific community for his work with amorphoussemiconductors, granular
materials, and 1/f noise, he is known to the general public as the
author of the book The Physics of
Superheroes, which considers comic book superheroes from the
standpoint of fundamental physics.
James will be the Keynote Speaker at
the
2010 Wescan Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He promises to give us an
insightful, lighthearted and interesting look at physics. Lets really
break the ice this year!!!
Our
Icebreaker will start out at the Inn at the Forks. Fill up on
appetizers and liquid courage before we head over to the Grain Exchange
Curling Club for a few exciting ends of Curling! No experience
necessary.
Prizes
will be awarded
for "most graceful
fall", among other
things.

Back
by Popular Demand.... our favorite
imaginary-banjo-playing physicist
KYLE MALKOSKE and the Hypnotist!! Some
of you may remember the spectacle that was Kyle
Malkoske under Hypnosis from the last time we hosted Wescan. Tears were
streaming down our faces, wine was coming out of our noses and our abs
hurt like we had just done 1000 crunches. Ever since Winnipeg
was confirmed as the host of Wescan 2010, Kyle has
begged us to bring back a hypnotist. And we were more than happy to
oblige. Join us for an evening that promises to make you "laugh until
you cry" Where
should you stay? We've got an "inn" at Inn at the Forks! Click HERE for
the details on how to get Conference Rates! Book your room before
February 24th to take advantage of the great rates.
